Money, money, money…and coffee.

Money…it’s a sore subject in my household, and has always been. Maybe it is because I do not make enough (or so I think), or maybe it is because I just cannot save properly. Recently I was shocked to find out that we spend over $400 on groceries…for just two people. Yeah. I do ALL of the shopping, so it’s obviously on me. So I needed to look at options and ways to cut that at least in half. I am in the process of trying it out, by ways of making a weekly plan, and sticking to it, and making up a shopping list and shopping for those items only. This is my first week, and I spent $32.00 yesterday and have to go shopping today, so we shall see what awaits us.
So what does this have to do with food? It has to do with my favorite thing in the world: COFFEE. I would spend up to $4.00 a day on Starbucks’ Mochas, Caramel Macchiatos and so on. And then I found this:

Gevalia Coffee

Now this is not exciting for the folks who do not own a Keurig, but I do and I am overly excited. It’s great. It tastes just like a cappuccino should. And it saves me a LOT of money. A box of 6, costs 5.99 (with a coupon of $1.00 off). And lasts me a week. That’s 6 cups of coffee. For 5.99. Instead of $4.00 per 1 cup.

Unfortunately I still indulge in Starbucks occasionally. On weekends mostly. But this saves me money and it tastes great. It works just like your regular K-Cup, except it comes with a powder flavoring/milk. You empty that into your cup and then brew the K Cup that also comes with it. And mix. Mix like you’ve never mixed before. And finally, enjoy!

Now, I know it’s not the most “pure” form of beverages, the powdered content of it is a bit iffy, but so is the Syrup portion of my Mochas. It’s a fair trade off, for a fraction of a price. I will take my chances.
